OM MANI PADME HUM
Hum is the last syllable of our sacred mantra simply because it corresponds to the end of every Buddhist's quest: the state of spiritual fulfillment and enlightenment. More precisely, Hum conveys the idea of enlightenment in the indivisibility of being, in the union of each of its facets.
According to Buddhism, this indivisibility is precisely one of the necessary steps on any path to wisdom. Through the Hum, the resulting harmony unifies us and, thus, makes us impervious to what is not part of being, whether it be external things (like the useless and the illusory) or internal things (like feelings of hatred or anger).
